Comtech Telecommunications Corp. and Intersec: Two-Year Successful Location Solution Partnership
Announced in 2016, the partnership to expand location-based offerings led to several deals throughout 2017 and 2018
ANNAPOLIS, Md. and PARIS, France – February 16th, 2018
Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) Enterprise Technologies group, which is part of Comtech’s Commercial Solutions segment, a leader in device location and messaging technology, and Intersec, a leading vendor of real-time location data analytics software, announced today that the companies have been successfully working together to expand location opportunities to fuel use cases such as asset tracking, fleet management, population safety and Smart Cities.
In 2016, the challenge was to establish a scalable, best-in-class technology from two of the world’s leading location solutions companies to better serve companies generating huge amounts of location data. The bet paid off, as 2017 has shown, and the strategic partnership leveraged the two companies’ core competencies: Comtech’s precise location technologies and Intersec’s ability to trigger business processes-based location data analysis and the provision of corresponding applications.
This partnership allowed both companies to sign deals with major operators in SE Asia, Middle East, North America, and North Africa for a variety of location-based applications. It proved all the more fruitful when combining Comtech’s active Enhanced Cell Id location (e-CID) with Intersec’s passive location and analytics capabilities—particularly for location-based advertising and M2M asset tracking use cases.
Revenue Growth for 2018
According to Telecoms.com’s 2017 Annual Industry Survey, 53.7% of surveyed operators said the enterprise sector holds the greatest opportunity for revenue growth in 2018. Location is a great way to address B2B customers and create new revenue streams.
Location-Targeted Mobile Ad Spend: An Example
Confirmation is given with the example of Location-Targeted Mobile Ad Spend. According to a BIA/Kelsey 2017 study, Location-Targeted Mobile Ad Spend is promised to grow from $B16 in 2017 to $B32 in 2021 – representing 45% of all ad spending.
As both our target markets and our solutions are complementary, our growth objectives have become bijective. Moreover, the two companies are currently working on an innovative SaaS solution for IoT to be launched in 2018.
